a very good product. The headphones give you clear crystal sound and the mic can pick up your voice even at the lowest. A typical Sony product that stands up to its name. The headphone and the mic function properly and I never had any problem with them.
Thoroughly recommended. As the title says, this is the best chat headset I've used. The sound is crisp and clear for me and the person I'm talking to.
I wanted a behind-the-head headset with a boom microphone, but Sony doesn't currently offer one.The product does seem to block out surrounding noise as described.The cord is a generous length, but like many Sony products, it could be a little heavier to be considered the good quality I have come to expect from Sony. The overall look is a "bulky" rounded look that doesn't conform to the head shape of an average individual. The arched portion seem too wide for an average individual, causing the speakers to travel back toward the head.
Place your hand loosely over your mouth and then talk, and you get an idea of what this mic sounds like. I am comparing the sound quality of this mic to a recording spoken directly into a Sony digital recorder (ICD-ST25 in LP mode), which produces a high quality, crisp voice reproduction. The best way to describe the sound quality of a recording with this microphone would be "muffled".
I expected this Sony quality from this headset.This headset would best fit someone with a really wide head. I tried to use it with Dragon Naturally Speaking speech recognition software, and the recording quality is so low, the software wouldn't continue thru the setup.
I have other electret mics by Sony, and there is a differnce in quality between them.
Just the listening part is the prob. I'm not sure if anyone else experiences this with this particular headset, but the volume seems to change high to low while it's in use.I play Counter-Strike with them, and notice that gunshots and footsteps would sound lower then higher in unusual situations where the volume shouldn't be changing. Maybe it's just me.Maybe this headset is a waste of money.Mic does work fine though.
As for the microphone and sound quality - no problems so far.If you spend much time using Skype or similar I'd suggest something more comfortable. This headset tends to fall down every time you turn your head.
